Jessica Hahne, Silliman 2015
Editor-in-Chief

Jessica is a sophomore English major in Silliman College. Her passion for the Yale Scientific is motivated by an interest in making science more accessible to the general public and by a natural affinity for written communication. Aside from the YSM, she is involved in Yale Students for Christ and works at the Yale Interdisciplinary Center for Bioethics.

Li Boynton, Calhoun 2014
Managing Editor

Li is a junior in Calhoun College double majoring in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology and East Asian Studies. Her main career interests lie in health care, particularly in an international context. When not at work studying or doing research, Li can be found painting in the studio or doing graphic design. She was also the previous Production Manager and Art Editor of the Yale Scientific.

Renee Wu, Silliman 2014
Managing Editor

Renee is a Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology major with a research interest in immunobiology. She has previously served as Features Editor of the magazine.

Terin Patel-Wilson, Pierson 2015
Articles Editor

Currently a sophomore of Pierson College, Terin is a Computer Science major from Mooresville, North Carolina. He is very excited about his role as articles editor, and has previously served as an Online Editor and writer for the YSM. When not working for the magazine, Terin spends his time organizing with TEDxYale, teaching with CHE, or hanging out in his 11-pack.

John is a junior in Jonathan Edwards College majoring in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry. He has previously written for the magazine and served as Layout Editor.

Alyssa Picard, Davenport 2014
News Editor

Alyssa is majoring in Physics and Classics. In addition to the magazine, she is involved with the Yale Humanist Society and works on the discovery and characterization of long-period exoplanets in Professor Debra Fischer’s lab. In her free time, she enjoys running, reading, and knitting..

Rebecca Su, Silliman 2016
Features Editor

Rebecca is a freshman in Silliman and a prospective Biomedical Engineering major. In addition to working with YSM, she is also involved in Demos and scientific research. In her spare time she enjoys playing the flute, dancing, and eating bread.

Grace Cao, Timothy Dwight 2016

Grace is a freshman in Timothy Dwight College and a prospective Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology major. She currently researches TAM receptor ligands in Professor Carla Rothlin’s lab. In her free time, Grace enjoys bridge and bookbinding.

Dennis Wang, Calhoun 2014

Dennis is a junior in Calhoun College double majoring in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry, and Global Affairs. He is involved with the Yale International Relations Association and hopes to work on global health in China. Dennis loves to travel, has played the piano for more than 10 years, and has more than 30 parakeets and cockatiels.

Jason is a sophomore in Saybrook College, pursuing an Ecology & Evolutionary Biology and French double major. In addition to the Yale Scientific, he is involved with the Yale Equestrian Team, the Saybrook College Orchestra, and the Yale chapter of Global Health Professions Microfinance. His favorite authors are Hugo, Proust, and Balzac.

Walter Hsiang, Silliman 2015

Walter is a sophomore in Silliman majoring in MCDB. He works in the Fahmy Lab where he studies nanoparticle drug delivery systems. In his free time he likes to play the cello.

Production Manager

Jessica is pre-med and a Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology major. She has previously written for several issues of the Yale Scientific Magazine as well as served as Layout Editor. Outside of YSM, she teaches with Yale Splash and also writes for the Yale Journal of Medicine and Law, the Triple Helix and the Yale Journal of Public Health.

Christina de Fontnouvelle, Berkeley 2016

Christina is a potential Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry major. She works in the lab of Cell Biology professor Yongli Zhang, whom she met writing her first Yale Scientific news article. She is also involved with YSO, YRP, and United Against Infectious Diseases.

Carrie Cao, Morse 2015
Layout Editor

Carrie is a sophomore in Morse College majoring in Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry. Besides coming up with cool layouts for YSM, she is a student tech, plays clarinet for the Yale Concert Band, swims on the club team, and does research in the medical school investigating changes in neuron structure after spinal cord injuries. When not labbing or YSM-ing, Carrie enjoys playing pool, journaling, piano-ing, and eating mangos.

Chanthia Ma, Davenport 2016

Chanthia is a freshman in Davenport College. Still exploring various academic fields of interest, she is currently loving Directed Studies. She also enjoys playing violin with the Davenport Pops Orchestra. During the rest of her time at Yale, Chanthia hopes to continue painting and exploring her passion for the fine arts as well as pursue a premed track.

Stephany is a freshman in Saybrook College. She is majoring in Electrical Engineering, plays flute for an orchestra, and is active in the Women’s Leadership Initiative. She also enjoys traveling around Asia.

Stella Cao, Branford 2014
Publisher

Stella comes from New York City and is a junior Geology and Geophysics major in Branford College. Passionate about science, Stella manages the publishing department of the Yale Scientific magazine and volunteers for to teach kids science demos. She also interned with the Institute of the North in Alaska, preparing case studies on energy projects in the Arctic. She will dragonboat, windsurf, kayak or swim whenever she gets the chance to.

Karthikeyan Ardhanareeswaran, Davenport 2015
Publisher

Karthikeyan is a sophomore in Davenport planning to double major in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry & Psychology with a Neuroscience concentration. He does bioinformatics research in the field of stem cell biology at the Dzau Laboratories (Duke University School of Medicine).

Aurora is a freshman in Morse College and a prospective Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry major. In addition to writing for the Yale Scientific Magazine, she is a member of the Danceworks team, a clarinetist in the Yale Precision Marching Band, and a tutor for Altair Prep.

Alex Co, Morse 2015
Distribution Manager

Alex is a sophomore Chemistry major with an interest in green chemistry. He makes bacteria biodegrade his compounds as part of the Center for Green Chemistry and Green Engineering at Yale. Outside of academics, he works as the Sustainability Coordinator for Morse and a Master’s Aide, choreographs in Danceworks, plays saxophone in the YPMB, and mentors through ReadySetLaunch. He also has many boxes of tea in his room and would love to have a cup of tea with you.

Deeksha Deep, Morse 2016

Deeksha Deep is a Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry major and perhaps also an Economics major. She is involved in research and hopes to go to medical school one day. She is very excited to be a part of producing the Yale Scientific Magazine!

Outreach Chair

Naaman is a sophomore in Morse College and a prospective MCDB and Spanish double major. In addition to loving YSM, she is also involved with DPops Orchestra and Women’s Club Lacrosse. She enjoys helping out with various mentoring and community service programs on campus as well, and loves meeting new people.

Savina Kim, Silliman 2016
Special Events Coordinator

Savina Kim is a freshman in Silliman who plans on majoring in either Biology or Cognitive Science. Her primary interests are neurobiology and global health with a focus on medicine and mental disorders. She is involved in Amnesty International and loves playing music on the piano and cello.
