2018 Essay Prompt

Find a pattern or scientific phenomenon in nature and write about a way that we can utilize it in an invention. For example, bird wings have evolved to have a certain structure that optimizes flight. How can we mimic this in a man-made invention that may be beneficial to humans? Spider webs are some of the strongest materials made in nature (crazy to think they are made by such small creatures!) How can we apply knowledge of spider webs to our work in material science? Describe your dream invention and the principles behind it!
